Western Australia Regional Meeting

Quakerism suits independent thinkers. It is of Christian origin but many Quakers seek and accept enlightenment from other sources as being of equal value. There is no accepted creed. Beliefs vary among Quakers, however they recognise that there is something of the divine in everyone and that the whole of life is sacred.

The mainly silent Meeting for Worship sustains and renews Quakers. There are no ordained ministers. All Quakers share responsibility for the Meeting.

Quakers work in a practical way to achieve peace and social justice in Australia and overseas.
There are variations within Quakerism. WARM is part of the unprogrammed tradition of Quakerism. We would like to make it clear that we don’t speak for all Quakers.

  1. I live in SW WA and am interested in the Bunbury meetings. What does it mean that the meetings are ‘in recess’ and what does it mean by ‘held in the manner of the Friend’s?

    1. Dear Zera,

Humble apologies for such a tardy reply. You posed your question to us 27 April and I am only now replying. I’m afraid we’ve had some technical problems with our webpage and I was not notified that you had posted your query.

Alas, Bunbury Meeting has been in “recess” for some time as there have not been enough Friends (Quakers) living in the area to make hiring of a hall or facility worthwhile. I have left a phone message with Jane Gilham (who is listed on the website) inquiring if there are any private Meetings occurring in the region at a Friend’s home or some such.

Hopefully I’ll be able to send you another email soon updating you of if and when any Friends are Meeting for Worship in the Bunbury area.

Here is a website that might help explain the term “held in the manner of Friends”

      In peace,
      David Tehr
